WILDFIRE POTTERY SHOWCASE: POINT SYSTEM

Linda reviewed the point system discussed at the Jan Board meeting as follows:

• One point is earned for serving as a Wildfire committee chair. (Local Clay has provided CGC with a detailed list of 18 chair descriptions, which can be adapted for CGC.) Artists volunteering as multiple committee chairs can earn multiple points.

• One point is earned for serving in a board position for one year.

• Artists volunteering as committee chairs and board members automatically get into the Wildfire Pottery Showcase, if they wish.

• Cumulative point levels from one year apply to the following year's Wildfire show. For example, if an artist has earned three points cumulatively by the end of 2006, s/he will be at the three point level for the 2007 Wildfire show.

What are points for?

Points get artists an opportunity to select which booth they would like for Wildfire. The person with the most points has first choice; second most has second choice, and so on. A random drawing will be held for artists with equal numbers of points.

How else can a point be “spent“?

One point is spent for each year that a member chooses not to volunteer as a committee chair or board member, if s/he has accumulated points. For example, if a member has earned seven points and decides to take a break from volunteering, s/he only looses one point per year for seven years. and would have booth choice selection based on their remaining points. The member could still serve on committees, even if they were not the chair of those committees. Also One point is lost if a person does not do his/her committee chair or board position job.

Do members earn points for being on committees?

No. All members participating in Wildfire serve on committees as their part in making the showcase happen.

How will booth selection order for 2006 Wildfire be determined?

The 2005/6 Wildfire chair and the 2006 Wildfire planning committee (meeting date TBA) will use 2005 Wildfire chair positions and Local Clay’s Clay Fest job descriptions as a guide to awarding points. Points will be awarded to members serving as 2005 Wildfire committee chairs and 2005 board members, and then e-mailed to members. Point levels will determine the order of booth selection for 2006 Wildfire. A random drawing will be held for those with equal point levels. See Point System above for more details on booth selection.

EMPTY BOWLS:
