Clay Guild Positions

Linda finished up her last meeting as President of the Clay Guild. A position (among many) she held for the last two years. Jolene Cap will be President for the coming year and David Warren will be the new Webmaster. Corrine Vegter has tentatively volunteered for the Empty Bowls position and Cheri Harris volunteered for the Secretary position. Thanks to our newcomers for stepping up.

Board Positions and Committe Chairs still needing someone to fill them are:

President-Elect - 1 point Acts as Vice-President and becomes President the following year.

Program Chair
- 1 point Arranges 45-50 minute programs following business of CGC meetings. Presentations should be of interest to CGC members: slides, demos, lectures related to clay art. Informs newsletter editor of upcoming programs.

At Large Members - 1 point Work with board on special projects and committees. Must attend 6 board meetings discuss and vote on issues and share in the responsibility in running the CGC.

Membership - 1 point Maintain and update current and past membership files. Compile and publish the CGC membership list at the beginning of each year. Send a welcome letter and back issue of the newsletter to each new member who joins mid year. Add new members, membership renewals and address changes to each bimonthly newsletter.

Workshops - 1 points Organizes 1 - 2 workshops per year with local and/or visiting artists.

Clay in Education Chair - 1 point Review projects submitted by members for educational clay activities in their communities. Set up the number of hours the instructor will be paid by CGC. Assist and advise in matters concerning procurement of materials, tools, firing space, etc..

Group Buys - 1 point Organizes orders and distributes chemical and equipment group buys for CGC members.

Review of Wildfire Show - To be held the first weekend in November 2007 at Seven Peaks Elementary School. Set up will be Friday afternoon/evening. Show will be open on Saturday and Sunday. Eleanor Murphy is coordinating an "invitational only" evening for Saturday which would include food and beverages for those attending. Steve Provence (Wildfire Chair) will be announcing the first meeting soon.

Non- Profit Status - Linda reported that the Jolene filed the paperwork to obtain non-profit status for the Clay Guild. The filing fee turned out to be only $150, not $300 as was expected. Many thanks to Jolene for her hard work and dedication on getting the report filed.
