OPA NEWS
Showcase was fantastic! All of us who went learned a lot and enjoyed it
too! Congratulations OPA!
OPA members are invited to participate in a CLAY IN EDUCATION opportunity:
“We are always looking for people to do some Clay in Edprojects.
If you know of a senior citizens center where you would like tot each
or have an idea for a children's program, you could get paid by OPA to
teach a class or workshop. The way this works is you find a place that
needs a ceramics class or workshop, especially a place that might otherwise
not have access to this type of thing, you approach them and ask if they
would be interested, then you call the Clay in Ed Chair and ask if you
can do this teaching project. You are paid by the OPA for every hour you
spend actually teaching (no pay for prep time). Interested? Contact Nancy
Hart, nancyjohart@yahoo.com, 503-297-3799 or Kay Irishkayirish@softhome.net,
541-935-4327”
If you want to become a member of OPA, you can contact Peter Meyer pmceramics@bendnet.com
or check OPA website.
WIRELESS CREDIT CARD TERMINALS: If you are interested in using a wireless
credit card system for your business, OPA member Deb Bouchette has found
this service. Banctech in Texas (info@banctech.net) charges a $75 activation
fee, $25 per month using AT&T, Cingular and T-Mobile, plus a 7cent
per call fee.
HIGH TECH KILN SHELVES: Geil Kilns is now offering a nitride bonded silicon
carbide shelf for $107 for 12x24" and $123 for 14x28" + 10%

($145 for 12x24") and Crystar ($195 for 12x24") shelves that
many of us use. Has anyone tried these shelves yet? Advancer and Crystar
shelves are extremely thin, lightweight, incredibly tough kiln shelves
that your Newsletter Editor recommends highly. Contact Geil at www.kilns.com,
